Willow Slough is near the corner of South Land Park Drive and 14th Street. There's an old (and short) railroad bridge that crosses over the drainage ditch that will have to be replaced during construction of the rail. Trees marked with red paint will be removed. The arborist's report from Feb. 2022 identified 384 treees that will be taken down, and a minimum of 700 new trees will be planted along the trail.
I took the first photos here on Nov. 2, 2022. Crews began clearing the trail sometime in early January 2023. On Jan. 19, much of the tree-clearing had been completed and crews were moving north toward South Land Park.
A new presentation published by the city on Jan. 18, 2023, notes that heavy construction will begin at Willow Slough in the summer of 2023, and a new prefabricated bridge will be installed.
