Crews worked their way north from 35th Ave. to Del Rio Rd. on January 24-25, 2023. Some residents have expressed concern that some of the beautiful trees along the railroad tracks near 27th might be removed, but construction markers indicate the trail will drop down into the ravine, and only a few nuisance trees were removed near the tracks. Construction markings on the asphalt at 27th indicate that the upgraded trail here will be 25 feet wide.
According to plans published by the city, hundreds of new trees will be planted all along the trail, including rows of new trees lining both sides of the trail between 27th and Fruitridge.
A new presentation published during a virtual Zoom meeting on Jan. 18 notes that concrete will cover the existing tracks between Fruitridge and 43rd. The “geometry” at Del Rio and 27th will be “realigned,” and residents should expect extended road closures. Work is expected to begin along this section in the summer of 2023.
